Below is a listing of some of the live Professional Development programs happening in and around the province, including those being offered through the College Professional Development (PD) Program.

Please note: Our webcast provider, St. Boniface Hospital Research Centre (SBRC), recently made changes to their website. The live webcasting instructions have changed and participants will need to register a new username and password to access the latest live College of Pharmacists of Manitoba webcasts hosted by SBRC.

This program has been accredited for up to 4.5 Mainpro+ credits by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Manitoba Chapter.

Once lab test ordering for outpatients is permitted by Manitoba Health, all pharmacists wanting to include test ordering for outpatients as part of their practice must complete the Manitoba Module: Ordering Laboratory Tests . Successful completion of the Manitoba Module does not automatically grant pharmacists the authority to order lab tests for outpatients in Manitoba.

This program was developed by the University of Manitoba, College of Pharmacy in partnership with the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba to help meet the learning needs of Manitoba pharmacists who plan on incorporating the ordering of lab tests into their pharmacy practice. This program is accredited for 5.75 CEU by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba.
The new Pharmaceutical Regulation provides pharmacists with the authority to order and receive the results of laboratory tests following the guidelines and restrictions set out in the Regulation and the appropriate practice directions. Pharmacists in Manitoba are not yet allowed to order lab tests for outpatients until the College, Manitoba Health and laboratory service providers establish the necessary infrastructure to enable such test ordering. As well, please note that completion of the "Ordering Lab Tests for Manitoba Pharmacists" does not automatically grant pharmacists the authority to order lab tests for outpatients in Manitoba. Once lab test ordering for outpatients is allowed, all pharmacists who would like to order lab tests for outpatients must complete the Manitoba Module: Ordering Lab Tests . Following successful completion of the Manitoba Module, a pharmacist must sign in to their profile on the College website and declare they have completed the required training. Further information will be posted on the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba website once available.

Successful Completion of the Self-Limiting Conditions Independent Study Program available through AdvancingPractice.com website, a completed Application for Authorization to Prescribe a Drug Included in Schedule 3 to the Pharmaceutical Regulation for Self-Limiting Condition (not including smoking cessation) and a Certificate of Authorization from the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba is needed before pharmacists can prescribe for the conditions and the drugs listed in Schedule 3 to the Manitoba Pharmaceutical Regulations.
