The Pharmacy Directory lists all pharmacies in the province licensed by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (the College). The initials, "IPS" following a pharmacy's name indicates that this pharmacy is also licensed to provide international prescription services and are authorized to send medications internationally. Be advised that, given the international nature of the practice of International Prescription Services (IPS) pharmacy, there may be limitations in the ability of the College, which is the statutory licensing authority for pharmacies and pharmacists in the Province of Manitoba, to investigate and prosecute complaints from persons who receive services or products from an IPS pharmacy.
Manitoba pharmacists are not permitted to fill US physicians' prescriptions. They can only fill prescriptions issued by a physician licensed in a province or territory of Canada. The College takes the position that it may be contrary to professional standards for a pharmacist to fill prescriptions by a physician, licensed in a province or territory of Canada, who has not established an acceptable patient physician relationship with you.
A Manitoba pharmacy may only sell Health Canada approved drugs. Health Canada is the Canadian federal equivalent to the American FDA. If you are offered drugs from countries other than Canada, please be advised that referral by a Manitoba pharmacy for these non-Health Canada approved drugs is not permitted in Manitoba pharmacies licensed by the College.
Be aware there may be call centre businesses that appear to be Manitoba pharmacies and forward your prescription to pharmacies located in other countries. Any concerns or complaints about these call centre businesses should be referred to Health Canada at 1-204-983-5490.
