The opioid crisis, fuelled by drugs like fentanyl, has resulted in a rise in overdose deaths across Canada. Naloxone is a life-saving drug that can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and it is available in Manitoba without a prescription.
In keeping with our mandate to protect public, the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (the College) has compiled a list, for the use by the public and healthcare providers, of community pharmacies that carry naloxone kits for purchase and provide education and training on how to use the kit in an emergency. This list will be updated on an ongoing basis and does not encompass every pharmacy in the province.
We advise anyone seeking to purchase a naloxone kit, to contact their usual pharmacy first to confirm if naloxone kits may be available at that location. Contact information for your pharmacy can be found on the College Pharmacy Directory .
If your pharmacy does not carry naloxone kits, please review our list of Pharmacies Carrying Naloxone Kits in Manitoba . The high demand for naloxone kits can, at times, result in reduced supplies of the product. Please contact individual pharmacies prior to visiting them to confirm availability and cost.
Once you purchase a naloxone kit, a pharmacist will provide education and teach you how to use the kit in an opioid overdose emergency.
If you are seeking a publically funded (free) naloxone kit, please contact Street Connections .
