New CPhM Council Members
The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) is pleased to introduce the members of Council for the 2024-2025 term. As the governing body of the CPhM, the Council is responsible to set policies and oversee regulatory programs that protect the public interest. Council members bring diverse expertise and perspectives to their roles, which assist in setting strategic direction and monitoring regulatory functions of CPhM.
Role of the CPhM Council
The CPhM Council is responsible for:
- Establishing education and entry-to-practice requirements for pharmacy professionals and pharmacies.
- Setting professional and ethical standards for pharmacy professionals.
- Implementing quality assurance programs to ensure pharmacy professionals’ continuing competence.
- Setting and monitoring the organization’s strategic plan.
Composition of the Council
Our Council is composed of:
- 4 public representatives appointed by the Minister responsible for health.
- 1 pharmacy technician.
- 6 pharmacists.
- The Dean of the College of Pharmacy (Ex Officio).
Council members attend five meetings annually and participate in various CPhM committees. Pharmacy professionals serve three-year terms and may serve two consecutive terms, while public representatives serve terms determined by the minister.

Safety IQ Feature: Pharmacy Workflow Improvements
The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) conducted a Community Pharmacy Survey on Patient Safety Culture to gather insights from community pharmacy staff about patient safety and safety culture in their workplaces. The findings highlight the importance of an efficient pharmacy workflow to ensure timely and safe prescription services, reduce staff stress, and enhance satisfaction.

Continuing Education Opportunities with ISMP Canada
Continuing education is vital in preventing medication errors and improving patient care. The Institute for Safe Medication Practice Canada (ISMP Canada) offers comprehensive education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to advance patient and medication safety.
ISMP Canada offers virtual workshops with interactive sessions, eLearning opportunities with flexible modules allowing for completion at your own pace, and custom designed learning.
