CPhM Introduces Purpose Statement and Guiding Principles

As part of its ongoing governance review, the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) has adopted a purpose statement and guiding principles to replace its mission statement and traditional vision and values. These updates better reflect CPhM’s regulatory mandate and its commitment to public safety, diversity, equity, inclusivity, belonging, and accessibility (DEIBA), and ethical pharmacy practices.

The new purpose statement highlights CPhM’s role in regulating the pharmacy profession with a focus on person-centered, evidence-informed, and culturally sensitive care for all people. It underscores the importance of public interest, cultural safety, and anti-racism in regulatory decisions.

The updated statements reflect CPhM’s commitment to transparency, collaboration, and ethical leadership as it continues to evolve alongside Manitoba’s healthcare needs.

Introducing CPhM’s Updated Land Acknowledgment

The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) is honoured to share our updated land acknowledgment, which reflects our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, cultural humility, and learning from Indigenous communities.  It was developed in consultation with Manitoba Indigenous communities.

This acknowledgment recognizes the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Ininewak, Anishininewak, Dakota Oyate, and Denesuline Nations, along with the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. It reflects our responsibility to foster culturally responsive practices in pharmacy and our dedication to continually learn and listen to Indigenous voices, ensuring we adapt and grow in our approach.

Our acknowledgment is a living document, and we remain open to ongoing feedback from Indigenous communities, pharmacy professionals, and all those who wish to engage. We view this as an evolving expression of respect and understanding that will continue to change as we deepen our relationships.

New CPhM Jurisprudence Examination Policy

As part of CPhM’s ongoing efforts and commitment to increase transparency, CPhM Council recently approved a Jurisprudence Examination (JP) Policy. This policy establishes clear eligibility criteria and limitations for sitting the CPhM JP Exam.

While the policy largely formalizes existing procedures, it also incorporates new measures to address recent challenges and future needs.

To view the new policy, please visit the CPhM website https://cphm.ca/about-the-college/self-regulation/policies/ or contact registration@cphm.ca for further clarification.
