Our Purpose and Principles

Mandate

The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) has a mandate to serve and protect the public interest in pharmacy practice. The CPhM mandate is established by The Pharmaceutical Act. 

Purpose Statement

Our purpose is to regulate the pharmacy profession with a commitment to excellence in person-centred, evidence-informed, and timely pharmacy care for all people. We serve the public interest by ensuring all pharmacy professionals are qualified to provide safe, ethical, and culturally sensitive care, free from all forms of racism, including Indigenous-specific racism. Through inclusivity, collaboration, and a dedication to integrity and accountability in our regulatory practices, we create an equitable environment that protects and prioritizes the public’s best interests. 

Why We Evolved: Moving from Mission to Purpose

CPhM transitioned from a mission statement to a purpose statement to clearly define who we are, what we stand for, and how we serve the public interest. 

This shift reflects a growing need for clarity, inclusivity, and focus in a changing healthcare environment. A purpose statement allows us to articulate: 

• Our Regulatory Focus: A steadfast commitment to transparency and evidence-based decisions that protect all people. 
• Our Values in Action: How equity, accountability, and public safety are integrated into every decision. 
• Our Impact: Creating a regulatory environment that meets the diverse needs of Manitoba’s communities. 

With this purpose, we not only set the tone for our work but also reaffirm our dedication to ethical, inclusive, and forward-thinking regulation.
