The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba is seeking a Communications Coordinator to manage internal and external communications, media relations, publications, events, and professional presentations. About the Position:
The Communications Coordinator facilitates and maintains a broad range of communication solutions to support the work of CPhM.
Primary duties include:
- Project Management: Assist in the planning and execution of department-specific projects and communication initiatives. Work closely with the Communications Specialist to coordinate various campaigns, events, and educational modules ensuring that timelines and objectives are met effectively.
- Track Website and Social Media Analytics: Monitor and analyze website traffic, social media engagement metrics, and other relevant analytics to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and identify areas for improvement.
- Content Creation and Planning: Collaborate with the Communications Specialist to plan and create compelling content for CPhM’s social media channels, website, newsletters, and e-newsletters. This includes drafting, editing, and publishing content in alignment with organizational goals and messaging.
- Newsletter Development: Work with CPhM staff to develop articles and features for the quarterly newsletter, as well as assist in drafting and editing articles for the bi-weekly e-newsletter “Friday Five.”
- News Monitoring: Follow relevant news and developments related to regulation and pharmacy practice at both provincial and national levels. Track industry trends, policy changes, and emerging issues to inform communication strategies and initiatives.
- Stakeholder Communications: Coordinate and send out communications to various internal and external stakeholders, including registrants, stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and the public. Ensure that messages are clear, accurate, and tailored to the intended audience.
- Website Management: Manage website upkeep and updates, including content management, layout adjustments, and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Inbox Management: Monitor various communication inboxes, including emails and social media messages, and ensure timely responses to inquiries and requests.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a discipline relevant to communications, journalism, public relations, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and job experience in a related field
- Knowledge of and experience in a health professions regulatory environment an asset
- Skill – specific certifications or training an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities
- Experience writing, creating, and producing materials across a variety of platforms
- Ability to effectively tailor messaging to target a variety of audiences and represent different presenters
- Video filming and editing experience; website management; videoconference experience
- Knowledge and skill with of a wide variety of software applications, including but not limited to WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, CMS, Zoom
- Excellent interpersonal skills; effective verbal, listening, and written communication skills; professional and engaging manner
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently as well as to thrive as part of a team

This is a full-time permanent position, 8:30 to 4:30, Monday to Friday. A hybrid work-model is available, following orientation and training; occasional requirement to work outside regular business hours for special meetings and events.
