CPhM Strategic Plan Series: Supporting Manitoba’s Pharmacy Workforce

The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) 2025-2027 Strategic Plan is guided by the theme Future-Pharmacy Regulation, reflecting CPhM’s commitment to evolving its regulatory framework to meet the future needs of pharmacy practice in Manitoba. This three-part article series explores each of the strategic priorities that will shape CPhM’s direction over the next three years.

Strategic Priority 1: Support Manitoba’s Pharmacy Workforce

CPhM is dedicated to empowering pharmacy professionals across Manitoba with the resources and tools needed to provide high-quality care. As the healthcare landscape continues to shift, supporting the pharmacy workforce is key to ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and ethical care.

To support this, CPhM will focus on three key initiatives:

  • Quality Assurance Program Expansion: Improving the current Quality Assurance Program to align with best practices and the principles of right-touch regulation—an approach that applies regulatory measures proportionate to the risks involved.
  • Standards of Practice Development and Review: Developing, monitoring, and reviewing Standards of Practice to help pharmacy professionals deliver consistent, high-quality care.
  • Complaints Process Improvement: Strengthening the complaints and discipline processes to enhance fairness, efficiency, and accessibility, with a particular focus on meeting the needs of equity-seeking groups.

At the core of this priority is CPhM’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Accessibility (DEIB+A). By embedding these principles into all workforce support initiatives, CPhM aims to create a more inclusive pharmacy practice environment that better serves all Manitobans.

New Administration of Injections FAQ

CPhM has developed a new Administration of Injections FAQ resource for pharmacists and interns to help clarify commonly asked questions around the legislation and requirements when incorporating injection administration into your practice.

Additionally, CPhM previously recorded a two-part professional development learning activity titled Lessons from Complaints: A Series on Injection-Related Best Practices.  These recordings can be accessed here: Accredited Learning Activities | College of Pharmacists of Manitoba

Pharmacy professionals with injection authorization are strongly encouraged to review the FAQ and both recordings.  These resources aim to reinforce administration of injection best practices and address common questions and concerns.
