Council Meeting Highlights
CPhM Council met on Friday, February 28, 2025. Highlights from the meeting include:
New CPhM Council Member
Council is pleased to announce the confirmation of appointment of David Mullins as a pharmacist member of Council, to fill the current vacancy for the 3-year term, expiring May 2027.
Following a call for applications in November 2024, the Appointments Committee made this competency-based selection according to the processes set out in policy and in conjunction with the competency matrix approved by Council.
CPhM welcomes David Mullins to Council and looks forward to his contributions in advancing the mandate of the CPhM.
Citizen’s Roster Appointments
The Citizen’s Roster is a Council governance initiative intended to add diverse and adequate perspectives from the public to CPhM committees, supporting accountability for Council and demonstrating commitment to considering the public interest at all levels of CPhM governance.
Council is pleased to announce the following individuals have been appointed to CPhM committees from the Citizen’s Roster.
- Arlene Wilgosh, appointed to the Quality Assurance Committee effective immediately, for a two-year term.
- Kasia Kieloch, appointed to the Board of Examiners effective June 2025, for a two-year term.
CPhM continues to invite members of the community who reside in Manitoba and who are not pharmacy professionals to apply to the Citizen’s Roster. Any experience, whether through other community involvement, volunteer work or activities (e.g., serving on a committee at a child’s school, involvement in music, sports, theatre, or other non-profit organizations) is relevant experience and will assist a community representative to serve on CPhM committees.
We encourage you to share this announcement with individuals who may be interested in this opportunity. For more information and to apply, please visit https://cphm.ca/citizens-roster/.
Restructuring and Amalgamation of Practice Directions
Since early 2024, the Professional Practice Committee has explored streamlining of processes to review and develop standards. Upon recommendation of the Professional Practice Committee, Council approved an amalgamated structure for practice directions, anticipated to make them more intuitive, with information more easily accessible to pharmacy professionals.
The Professional Practice Committee will continue the development and updating of practice directions to align with the CPhM 2025-2027 Strategic Plan while starting its work to implement this amalgamated structure.
