New Language Proficiency Requirements Policy
To align with other pharmacy regulators in Canada and adhere to provincial regulatory requirements, the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) has implemented a new language proficiency requirement policy as of March 24, 2025. This policy revises the language proficiency requirements for applicants seeking to practise as pharmacy professionals in Manitoba.
New pharmacist and pharmacy technician applicants must demonstrate the required language proficiency to communicate and comprehend in either English or French, ensuring all pharmacy professionals in Manitoba can provide high-quality care in their practice.
Applicants with language proficiency tests that met the minimum cut scores dated prior to the March 24th implementation date can still apply under the 2014 NAPRA Language Proficiency Policy, provided their test results are still valid at the time of application.
For further details regarding the language proficiency policy, including an FAQ, please visit the official CPhM website: https://cphm.ca/language-proficiency/.
This policy is part of CPhM’s ongoing commitment to maintaining appropriate professional standards and safe, ethical care by pharmacy professionals for everyone accessing pharmacy services in Manitoba.
