The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) invites you to provide feedback on the proposed changes to the Electronic Transmission of Prescriptions Practice Direction and the Manitoba Prescribing Practices Program (M3P). As part of CPhM’s commitment to transparency and accountability, the CPhM Council is initiating a 30-day consultation period, which ends on 23 April 2024.

Learn More: Explore the comprehensive information on the consultation, including detailed documents and rationale for the proposed changes, on the dedicated Consultation webpage.

Provide Feedback: To participate in the consultation, please submit your feedback and comments via email to feedback@cphm.ca by April 23, 2024.

We appreciate your dedication to the pharmacy profession. We look forward to your contributions in this important consultation.

Pharmacy Technician – Protected Title

Under the Manitoba Pharmaceutical Act, along with its accompanying Pharmaceutical Regulation, “pharmacy technician” is a protected title and the use of this title is restricted only to those individuals who meet and maintain the listing requirements and have their name in CPhM’s Public directory (alinityapp.com).

As Pharmacy Technicians are not currently registered in Manitoba, they should not be referred to as “Registered Pharmacy Technicians”.

Pharmacy Managers and/or their delegates must ensure that their pharmacy job postings and positions use the appropriate language and reflect the correct title and corresponding qualifications and education for the position. Students of pharmacy assistant schools, pharmacy technician schools and other pharmacy staff must also ensure they are identifying themselves accurately and performing the tasks that are within their scope of practice, as outlined in the Pharmaceutical Regulation.

For more information on the scope of practice of technicians and other pharmacy staff, please visit the CPhM website. If you have questions, please contact the CPhM at info@cphm.ca.

Call for Applications for 2024 Council Appointments

The Council of the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) is the governing body responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization and ensuring that CPhM meets its mandate to uphold the public interest while regulating the practice of pharmacy professionals.

The Council consists of members of the public appointed by the Minister and registrants appointed by the CPhM Appointments Committee. The CPhM Council recently approved a revised bylaw package with corresponding supporting policies, that reform the framework by which CPhM governance is conducted. As part of this reform, CPhM has moved to appoint, rather than elect, pharmacy professionals to Council.

The CPhM Appointments Committee is seeking the following to serve on Council:

  • six (6) pharmacists
  • one (1) pharmacy technician

Between March 6 and April 10, 2024, registrants who wish to serve a term on Council are encouraged to apply.

To apply, please review the application information, complete the online application form, and submit your resume, by email, to info@cphm.ca by 1:00 p.m. on April 10, 2024.

Thank you for your kind attention to this matter. If you require clarification or assistance regarding an application to be considered for an appointment to Council, please contact info@cphm.ca

General Call for Expressions of Interest for Committee Service

The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) has both statutory and standing committees. The statutory committee’s role is to carry out legislated duties; the role of standing committees is to support the Council’s work. All committee work contributes to the CPhM mandate to regulate the practice of pharmacy in the public interest.

The composition of each committee varies and consists of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians registered/listed with CPhM, members of the public, and Council members.

Those interested in becoming a committee member with CPhM are encouraged to view the information on the website and submit a Committee Expression of Interest form.

CPhM considers a number of factors when reviewing expressions of interest for committee service, including expertise, experience, practice setting, demographic representation, and other unique skills or attributes. Appointments to committees are made in the best interest of the committee as a whole to ensure the committee is properly constituted and able to function effectively and achieve its duties and responsibilities.

Efforts are made to match volunteers with their expressed interests; appointments are contingent on the vacancies at any given time.

Office Closure

Please be advised that the CPhM office will be closed on Friday, March 29, 2024 and Monday April 1, 2024.

Regular office hours resume on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Please call before visiting the CPhM office to ensure staff are available to help you. You can drop off documents such as applications at any time in the secure black deposit box to the left of the main entrance.
