World Patient Safety Day
World Patient Safety Day is September 17th and aims to raise awareness about the need for implementing safety measures in healthcare settings and adopting best practices to prevent harm. This day serves as a call to action for healthcare professionals to prioritize patient safety and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
The World Health Organization has launched several resources and initiatives for World Patient Safety Day 2024. You can explore these resources and learn more about the theme for this year by visiting their official campaign page.
In recognition of World Patient Safety Day, we encourage all pharmacy professionals to:
- Review and Reflect: Review safety protocols and practices in your workplace. Identify areas for improvement and think about how you can contribute to a safer healthcare environment.
- Engage in Training: Participate in any available training or educational opportunities related to patient safety. Enhancing your knowledge and skills will help you better identify and address potential risks.
- Promote Safety Culture: Advocate for a culture of safety within your team and organization. Encourage open discussions about safety concerns and support initiatives that aim to improve patient care.
- Share Knowledge: Use the resources provided by the World Health Organization and other reputable sources to stay informed about the latest developments in patient safety.

Reminder: Prepare Your Registrant Profile for Renewal
In preparation for the license and listing renewal period in fall (October 1 to November 15), the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) would like to remind all pharmacy professionals to ensure the information on your registrant profile is up to date.

- Go to My Groups
- Select Active Registrants

CPhM Policy Page
As a commitment to the ongoing efforts to increase transparency, CPhM recently launched a new webpage that is dedicated to hosting policy documents. The policy page provides comprehensive access to governance policies, ensuring that CPhM’s policies are clearly communicated and readily available.
This initiative underscores Council’s commitment to fostering transparent and accountable governance.
The policy documents page will continually be updated, as additional policy statements become available. Visit often, stay informed.
CPhA Launches IPG Mentorship and Integration Project
Through the new, federally funded IPG Mentorship and Integration Project, the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA) is supporting unlicensed International Pharmacy Graduates (IPGs) with learning, networking, mentorship opportunities, and practical work experience in Canadian pharmacies. CPhA is seeking pharmacist mentors and host pharmacies to join the program. As a mentor, you’ll play a pivotal role in helping shape future careers, build connections, contribute to the profession, and enhance your own leadership skills.
Please note that the IPG Mentorship and Integration Project is separate from the CPhM internship, and hours cannot be used to fulfill the provincial licensing requirements. A mentor for IPG Mentorship and Integration Project is not equivalent to a preceptor approved by Council for the purposes of a CPhM internship.
To learn more about CPhA’s new program, visit IPG Mentorship and Integration Project, or see CPhA’s call for mentors here.
