Pharmacy Technician Listing in Manitoba

To practice as a pharmacy technician in Manitoba, you must be listed with the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM). While all applicants must meet the same core requirements, there are different pathways to listing depending on education and professional background. 

The available registration pathways are: 

  • Domestically Educated Pharmacy Technician Graduate (DEPTG): for graduates of a CCAPP-accredited Canadian Pharmacy Technician Program or a CPhM Council-approved Bridging Program who have never been registered or licensed/listed as a pharmacy technician in Canada. 
  • Labour Mobility Pharmacy Technician Applicant (LMPTA): for pharmacy technicians currently licensed or listed in another Canadian jurisdiction who wish to become listed in Manitoba. 
  • International Pharmacy Technician Graduate (IPTG): for graduates of a pharmacy technician program outside of Canada who are eligible for the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada’s (PEBC’s) pharmacy technician certification processes. 

Domestically Educated Pharmacy Technician Graduate (DEPTG)

This pathway is for individuals who have graduated from one of the following programs and have never been registered and licensed (or listed) as a pharmacy technician in Canada: 

  • A CCAPP-accredited Canadian Pharmacy Technician Program, or 
  • A CPhM Council-approved Pharmacy Technician Bridging Program.

Labour Mobility Pharmacy Technician Applicant (LMPTA)

This pathway is for pharmacy technicians who are currently licensed (or listed) in another Canadian jurisdiction and wish to practice in Manitoba.

International Pharmacy Technician Graduate (IPTG)

This pathway is for individuals who graduated from a pharmacy technician program outside of Canada and have: 

  • Successfully completed the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada’s (PEBC) pharmacy technician Evaluating and Qualifying certification processes. 
  • Met CPhM’s language proficiency requirements. 
  • Never been registered or licensed as a pharmacy technician in Canada.

  • Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Search)

  • Adult Abuse Registry Check

I started my PEBC process prior to August 2014 so I don’t have any Pharmacists Gateway number, what should I enter?

Where do I find my 5-digit PEBC Registration Number?

Please refer to the Qualification Letter you received from PEBC, it will be located in the second paragraph.

What if I was not registered and/or licensed in my home country and can’t provide a letter of standing?

You can provide a notarized statement, see the Checklist for information that is required on the statement.

How can I send my Letter of Standing?

The Letter of Standing must be mailed to CPhM directly from your current or most recent licensing authority(s). It cannot be emailed. The letter must be dated within 24 months.
