Call for Council Applications
A call for applications is now open for individuals interested in serving on the Council of the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM).
As the CPhM governing body, Council guides strategic direction, sets standards of pharmacy practice in Manitoba, and upholds the public best interest.
The Council consists of members of the public appointed by the Minister responsible for Health and registrants selected by the CPhM Appointments Committee and appointed by Council.
CPhM is seeking two pharmacists to fill two positions on Council that will become available in May 2026. The successful candidates will serve a three-year term, June 2026 to May 2029.
As part of the application process, candidates are asked to rank themselves against a set list of competencies that, ideally, Council should embody. Please note, it is not expected that each individual member of Council would present with all of the competencies listed. In fact, it is the responsibility of the Appointments Committee to review the applications and balance the competencies of the candidates with those of the current Council members to ensure that Council composition, as a whole, presents a well-rounded and diverse group of individuals whose competencies, as a group, complement each other and provide a variety of perspectives, practice backgrounds, and geographic locations. This ensures that Council, as a whole, has the necessary mix of skills, abilities, and expertise to effectively carry out its mandate.
Interested pharmacists should review the application information, complete the online application form, and submit their resume before the deadline, 4:00 p.m. on February 27, 2026.

Thank you for your kind attention to this matter. If you require clarification or assistance regarding the process to be considered for an appointment to Council, please contact info@cphm.ca.
Continuing Competency Matters
As reported in the last Continuing Competency Matters, community pharmacists’ feedback was obtained in October 2025 about potential revisions to the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba’s (CPhM) Continuing Competency Program (CCP). This feedback, along with practice insights, were reviewed by both the Quality Assurance Committee and CPhM Council. These discussions emphasized that practicing pharmacists and CPhM are aligned on achieving the common goal of providing quality care.
CPhM continues to focus on practice realities while reviewing all components of the current Quality Assurance program to ensure integration and avoid duplication. Updates were also provided to the Quality Assurance Committee and Council on CCP revisions across provincial pharmacy regulatory authorities. This includes that the Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP) is moving away from routinely relying on a peer audit of submitted CE/CPD records to determine if CCP standards are met.
ACP’s CCP revisions, along with updates to CCP programs across regulatory authorities for pharmacy and other health professions, will be considered by CPhM.
Given the value of the pharmacist’s feedback, CPhM is again seeking community pharmacists to participate in one or two Focus Group discussions with our consultant (Nancy Winslade). CPhM is looking for a range of pharmacy practice types and locations, and perspectives from both staff pharmacists and pharmacy managers/owners. Dates being considered are February 18, 19, 23 or 24, and March 16-19th. Each session will run for two hours in the evening. Hospital Practice Direction Project: Share Your Perspective Reminder
The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) invites pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, interns, and students from all sectors of pharmacy practice to share their perspective on the quality and safety in hospital pharmacy practice. Input is being collected through a short electronic questionnaire (estimate 10 minutes) until Friday, February 13, 2026.
Results will be analysed along with other sources of evidence to inform the Hospital Practice Direction (HPD) Project, with a summary of results to be published in Spring 2026.
Feedback from all professionals registered with the CPhM, including those in the community and other sectors, is needed to create a complete picture of patient risk in hospital practice. To support deep discussions and understanding of the questionnaire findings, hospital pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are also invited to express interest in participating in a follow-up focus group.
More information about the project is available on the HPD project website.
Pharmacy Manager Training Program – Final Reminder of the February 1, 2026 Deadline
The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) mandatory CCCEP-accredited Pharmacy Manager Training Program focuses on the legislative and operational responsibilities of pharmacy managers, which focus on elements like supervision, incident management, and pharmacy security.
Those designated as pharmacy managers on or before February 1, 2025, must complete this program by February 1, 2026. Those who have been appointed as a pharmacy manager after that date must complete the program within one year of designation.
Pharmacy managers who do not complete this program by the required deadline will receive a notice of non-compliance, and the matter may be referred to the CPhM Complaints Committee for further review and/or another measure directed by Council.

Updates to the Return to Practice and Reinstatement Processes for Pharmacy Professionals
The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) has streamlined its return to practice and reinstatement pathways for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
Return to Practice from Non-Practicing Status
This pathway applies to pharmacists who are currently registered in the Non-Practicing Registered Pharmacist class of registration with CPhM and would like to return to practice.
The return to practice processes and requirements vary depending on many factors, including, but not limited to, how long have you been away from practice in Manitoba and if you currently hold registration with licence to practise in another Canadian jurisdiction.
Reinstatement
Reinstatement is a pathway for pharmacy professionals who were formerly listed or registered with a licence to practise in Manitoba, currently do not hold any status with CPhM, and wish to reinstate their eligibility to practise.
CPhM encourages former Manitoba pharmacy professionals or those who will be leaving pharmacy practice in Manitoba to review the CPhM website and checklist applicable to their situation. The step-by-step checklists outline eligibility information, registration processes, required documents and timelines.
