Annual Learning Portfolio Review Reminder
The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) is currently conducting the 2022– 2023 Annual Learning Portfolio Review. Approximately 20 per cent of licensed pharmacists were selected to participate in this process, and emails were sent to the selected pharmacists earlier this month. Please check your inbox for the email address that you have provided to CPhM as well as your junk folder to see if you have been selected to participate or need to provide more information.
The Annual Learning Portfolio Review helps ensure pharmacists engage in continuous learning through accredited and non-accredited learning activities to remain eligible for licence renewal and to help maintain competence to practice.
Should you have any questions about the review process, please contact profdevelopment@cphm.ca.
CPhM thanks participating pharmacists for their time and cooperation.
Safety IQ Feature: From Assessment to Action: Six Steps to Proactive Improvement Using Your Safety Self-Assessment
The recent Safety IQ blog post outlines ways to assess the safety of current medication practices and identify areas of risk.
The Safety IQ program establishes a standardized practice for community pharmacies to proactively evaluate their prescription process in terms of patient safety. The primary tool for proactive evaluation is a safety self-assessment (SSA). An SSA is a quality improvement tool pharmacy teams use to assess the safety of current medication practices, proactively identify areas of potential risk, and support the development of improvement strategies or plans. While completing the SSA is a straightforward process, developing and implementing improvement plans may pose greater challenges.

Final Call to Participate in the Pharmacy Technician Regulatory Issues Survey
This is the last notice to complete the Pharmacy Technician Regulatory Issues survey which will close on Sunday February 18th. The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) Council recently directed the establishment of a Pharmacy Technician Regulatory Issues Ad-Hoc Committee to review the current issues and/or barriers related to pharmacy technician regulation in Manitoba.
The Committee is seeking input and feedback from all pharmacy staff (all pharmacy professionals are encouraged to participate in the survey) about their perceptions of existing and potential issues and barriers related to pharmacy technician regulation in Manitoba.
The Committee will use the information gathered from the survey to provide recommendations to Council to identify and minimize barriers, fostering an environment that promotes enhanced pharmacy technician practices and increased patient safety across the province.
