Council

The CPhM Council protects the public interest by setting policies, education requirements, professional standards, and the strategic plan. It includes public representatives, pharmacists, a pharmacy technician, and the Dean of the College of Pharmacy.

Role of the CPhM Council

The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) governs its members and carries out activities to protect the public interest. This mandate is overseen by the CPhM Council, which sets policy and governs CPhM in the public interest.

Key Responsibilities of the Council:

  • Establishing education and entry-to-practice requirements for pharmacists and pharmacies
  • Setting professional and ethical standards for pharmacists
  • Implementing quality assurance programs to ensure pharmacists’ continuing competence
  • Developing the organization’s strategic plan

Composition of the Council:

  • 4 public representatives appointed by the minister responsible for health
  • 1 pharmacy technician
  • 6 pharmacists
  • The Dean of the College of Pharmacy (Ex Officio)

Council members attend five meetings annually and participate in CPhM committees.

Terms of Service:

  • Pharmacy professionals serve three-year terms and may serve two consecutive terms.
  • Public representatives serve terms as determined by the minister.

The 12-member Council is made up of pharmacy professionals and public representatives appointed by the Minister of Health, Seniors, and Long-Term Care.
